Get help sooner rather than later.

When communicating with your child:

• Make eye contact
• Take talking turns
• Slow all talking
• Repeat words and phrases often
• Don’t say “say…..”
• Make communication relevant
• Talk about events
• Listen and show interest in what your child is saying
• If you are unsure of what he/she wants to say, paraphrase it in very simple language
• Use short correct sentences
